How to Organize Jewelry: Two Repurpose Ideas
I’m sharing a couple of ideas for how to organize jewelry with two repurpose ideas. Whether you’re organizing a jewelry box or jewelry drawer, here are some things you might not have considered using! I recently helped my Mom organize her costume jewelry drawer to make everything more accessible. Here’s what she was working with: lots of things were in their original, non-descript boxes, which made accessorizing a real shell game of trying to figure out what was where.
My plan was to buy something that would fit in the drawer and help create at-hand storage. But, I like a job done quickly (sometimes at the expense of doing it well, but that’s another story). I scooted to the kitchen and started rummaging through the cupboards, where I found two, rarely used divided glass dishes. One was the perfect fit! We kept a few rarely worn items in boxes in the back, then put a few larger pieces in the “new” dish. Her existing silver lidded dishes house smaller pieces.
Now everything is easy to see, easy to access and easy to wear!
Full disclosure: not everything went back in. The empty boxes found a new home, yes, as did some of her never worn jewelry. Coincidentally, my jewelry box now has a few additions, like a sweet coral brooch and a couple other goodies. I’m horrible. Meanwhile, back at home I’m still unpacking things I bought in Hungary, like this . . . doll-sized cookware (?) I bought at the Christmas Market. One is just a flat dish, but the other three all have little handles.
These teeny tiny, colorful pottery pots and two handled whatsits were too cute to pass up. You know my love for miniature objects. Plus, I already knew where I would use them: my jewelry box. My jewelry armoire already has handy little drawers and cubbies, but tiny dishes like these help to keep smaller pieces organized and untangled.
I already have quite a few little dishes in there, like this one that I use for keeping track of the clip earrings that go with some of the vintage rhinestone brooches in my collection.
Ahhhhh. Feels better when things are tidy. And yes, I am way too enthused and bossy about organizing jewelry. I reorganized my Mom’s jewelry drawer by force and then I made my friend her own jewelry storage display.

those little dishes are so cute! and thanks for the tip! 🙂
Aren't they adorable?? It was hard narrowing my choices to just these ones. There was a whole bin of them!
Wow! What an awesome jewellery collection! And those dishes are perfect! I do the same with little shallow baskets. 🙂
I never get rid of any jewellery. I still have costume jewellery from when I was a kid, lol (and I wear it!), plus I thrift a lot and make my own. I am a total Magpie.
so very cute and a great way to organize and add some fun to a drawer.I did my jewelry drawer last year and yes it feels sooooo good to be able to open it and pick out something immediately.Thank you too for your well wishes of a safe surgery.I will let ya know how it goes :)Amy
Hoping everything goes well!
those findings are such a great idea- I will have to keep an eye out for them at the bead shop.
Some jewelers, like those who do repairs and such, even carry them – that's where I first found out about them.
Those are so cute. I love the pinkie one 🙂
I had no idea how tiny they really were until I saw them in you jewellery box – so cute!
They are super wee! Which is perfect for my needs. I just have no idea how someone made these . . . such perfect little details.
